About Us
How We Work
Access Midwifery and Family Care is a multidisciplinary practice that combines the talents and skills of midwives and nurse practitioners to bring comprehensive care to families in the greater Victoria area.
Midwives
Our midwives are self-employed, primary-care health professionals dedicated to providing quality maternity care.
They work fulltime and on-call, meaning that clients have access to a midwife 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We know how important this time is to expectant mothers and their families, and so we work with you to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Our midwifery services are covered under the Medical Services Plan, meaning that people with BC Care Cards can access our services free of charge. Regardless, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality maternity care. If you do not have a BC Health Card, we encourage you to contact us for more information about getting care.
Nurse Practitioners
Our nurse practitioners are employed by the Vancouver Island Health Authority and work in partnership with the midwives to round out care for the entire family. As family and pediatric NPs, they provide comprehensive care for the rest of the family outside of maternity care.
Our nurse practitioners provide care for women, men and children who do not have a primary care provider, and new clients do not need a referral. Please note that clients do not need MSP coverage to see a nurse practitioner, although some limitations may apply. Contact us to see if nurse practitioner care is right for you.
