About Us
Our Philosophy of Care
Our philosophy of care is woman-centred. We believe that all women should have care during their childbearing years that meets their needs for service, safe care, information sharing and accessibility. We also believe:
-
Pregnancy and birth are a normal part of a woman’s life.
-
Midwifery care is a mutually respectful partnership, built on trust and relationship, between the woman and her caregivers.
-
Women should expect to know their midwives through continuity of care.
-
Women have a right to up-to-date information and evidence-based research to make informed choices through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
-
Care should be provided based on an understanding of a woman’s lived experience. This includes respect for social, cultural, emotional, spiritual and physical realities.
-
We believe that respect, support and clinical excellence are key to assisting women to give birth safely and joyously, with power and dignity.
-
We promote the health of women at every stage of life.
