Our Care

Waterbirth

Midwives at Access Midwifery have experience in supporting women who choose to labour and/or give birth in water at home. The use of water in labour has recognized therapeutic values. Women with uncomplicated pregnancies are encouraged and have the choice to labour and/or birth their baby in water in the home environment.

Showers and birthing pools help women to maintain an upright position, which in turn shortens the length of labour and helps ease labour pain. Talk to your midwife to get more information about waterbirth. You can also check out websites devoted to waterbirth in the Resources section of our website.
